Sammy 1989-2006

Sammy passed away Saturday Nov. 18th, at home with Pam and Bier by his side. Sammy got 14 years of borrowed time and he made them count. Living 14 of his 17+ years with me has been my honor and privilege. I know that he loved every single one of you and took a little piece of each of your hearts with him when he left.

He was my boy and I cannot express the love I have for him.

If you have time, please check out the link below for a few pictures of Sammy.

Peace,

Corey

“Just when I thought I was out…they pull me back in.”

As a Brewer fan this time of year is usually dead to me as far as baseball goes. They are usually 10-20 games out of it with a bunch of triple A guys taking over the workload. I myself am at work 80+ hours a week from about the end of August to mid September. With the Packers starting up, a newfound appreciation of Premiership Soccer, (GO Liverpool!!!), and thoughts of maybe one more round of golf, some good trout and salmon fishing, the last camping trip and raking up the leaves, baseball is furthest from my mind. Sure, when the World Series starts up I’ll watch when it’s convienent, but that’s about it until next spring. Then it happened. I saw what I believe to be the greatest 15 minutes of comeback baseball ever. The Dodgers hit back to back to back to back home runs to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th. Then, after the Padres took the lead in the top of the 10th, Nomar goes ahead and wins it with a 2 run walk-off homer. The whole thing made for the greatest highlight session on Sportscenter today. Add in a White Sox triple play and baseball looks as if it can still be “berry berry goodt to me”. Lets play two.

Crikey! I’m Dead!!!

irwin.jpg

Steve Irwin, a.k.a. “The Crocodile Hunter,” was killed Monday by a stingray while filming off the Great Barrier Reef. Apparently the barb went through his ribcage and poked a hole in his heart. Damn. R.I.P. ya crazy M.F.’er

That Time of Year Already?

So here I am at work, Sunday afternoon @ 5:30 pm. The machines are banging away and I have spent 3 hours just catching up on crap that I couldn’t finish last week. This is the time of the year where we, (the employees of Clark Graphics), will spend the next 2.5 to 3 weeks working 14 – 16 hour days making books for the little kids attending UWM for the Fall semester. I say “little kids” because that is what they look like to me now. When I started here 15 years ago, I was their age, or younger. Now it is official, I could be the father of anyone of these freshman. YIKES!

Also, it is time for fantasy football. I have gone from 3 leagues, to 2, and finally this year I am down to 1 league. Is it because I want to concentrate on just one so that my skills will carry me to the championship? NOPE! It’s because I have become tired of the Sunday morning freakouts on checking players, matchups, bye-weeks, etc…, along with my confidence pool, (which in 5 years I have never taken $$$ out of pocket to play). I like being lazy on Sunday morning if I feel the need.

You might be asking yourself, “What the hell is the point of this post?”.

Age.

I am really starting to notice how old I have gotten. (Boo hoo, whaaaaa) No, I don’t feel sorry for myself and am not looking for sympathy. I think that the generation that I have grown up in has been fooled into thinking we are younger than we really are. The last 20 years have been more tech. advanced then the 20 before it. At 32 years old, I know as much if not more than my 22 year old counterparts about computers, internet, iPods, Playstations, X-Box, etc…, and the 12 year olds know as much as the 22 year olds. I try to remember what my parents were doing when they were my age. My dad played as much Atari 2600 and 5600 as my brother and I did. My mom played softball until she was 36 or so. I wonder what the moment was for them. Was it an annual event that they just didn’t feel up for? Or was it after my brother was born? They were only 22 & 23 when that happened. (19 & 20 when I was born) Is this the moment where I start to change my ways? Maybe not going out as much. And when I do, maybe don’t drink as much. Ummm.

Or is it just that time of year again and in a month I’ll be ready for anything.

Time will tell. Time will tell.

It’s freakin Floyd dude.

floyd.jpg

Tonight is the premiere of backyard movies and the double feature will be Pink Floyd’s The Wall and Anchorman. Kevan’s HD DLP projector will provide us with a 96″ screen and so far the weather looks good. If it goes well this may be the first of many. Sweet

Bloody awesome kits chaps!

Boys in thier kits

Jimmy and I got our 2006-2007 Liverpool kits yesterday. I thought that it was funny because we had this elaborate plan to have kits shipped to our friend’s parents who live in the U.K., and then have them ship the stuff to us with his kit to save on shipping. This whole process would have taken several weeks but was put to a halt when the Liverpool FC shop sold out the day they went on sale. Bummer. So on Sunday, after Liverpool’s season opening victory over Chelsea 2-1 to take the Community Shield, I told Jim we should just stop by Steffans on 13th and Lincoln, (3 miles from the Highbury), and see when they might be getting them in. BAM. 15 minutes later we were sportin’ the Liverpool “bling”. This Saturday when the Reds meet Sheffield United on the pitch Jimmy and I may still be drunk, may even be stinky, but we will be doing it in style.

“Can’t we all just get ablog”

I have decided that I will not use this vehicle as a way to call Corri names. I will use this space and time to promote fellowship and love. Peace.
